Legions (2003) is the middle set of Onslaught block and the only Magic expansion ever printed with nothing but creatures. That gimmick aged into a real advantage for collectors: a set built entirely on creatures is a set built almost entirely on tribal and Commander demand, which is exactly what keeps early-2000s cards moving today.

Akroma and Phage: the twin faces of the set
Akroma, Angel of Wrath is the card most people picture when they hear Legions. She has been reprinted several times since — timeshifted in Time Spiral, in duel decks, in Commander products — so the nonfoil Legions original is affordable, but the original Legions foil remains one of the set's genuine chase cards. First-printing status matters here the way it does for most iconic creatures.
Phage the Untouchable is the set's other marquee legend, and her kill-on-contact design keeps her a casual favorite. Like Akroma, the value concentrates in the original printing and especially the foil.
Seedborn Muse and the Muse cycle
Seedborn Muse is quietly the most-played card in Legions. Untapping during every other player's turn is one of the strongest effects in Commander, and despite reprints the demand never really lets up. The Legions original — foil above all — carries the first-printing premium.
The rest of the Muse cycle is worth pulling from bulk too. Graveborn Muse sees zombie-deck play, Dreamborn Muse enables mill strategies, and Windborn Muse taxes attackers in pillow-fort decks. None approach Seedborn, but all are better than bulk rares.
Slivers: the tribal engine room
Legions delivered the biggest wave of new slivers since Tempest block, and sliver decks are perennial Commander favorites. The rares are where the money is.
- Toxin Sliver — deathtouch for the whole hive before deathtouch was a keyword; typically the priciest sliver in the set
- Magma Sliver — turns every sliver into a mana-fueled threat
- Shifting Sliver — makes the whole team unblockable except by other slivers, a common combo finisher
- Synapse Sliver and Brood Sliver — card advantage and token generation that sliver decks always want
- Root Sliver and Ward Sliver — protection pieces that show up in dedicated builds
Sleepers and uncommon money
Because every card in Legions is a creature, the set is unusually rich in tribal role-players. Timberwatch Elf is a Pauper elves staple whose foils punch far above common rarity. Gempalm Incinerator remains one of the best goblin removal effects ever printed. Willbender is a classic morph blowout that still sees cube and casual play, and Kilnmouth Dragon and Caller of the Claw round out the rares worth checking before you bulk anything out.
